Inter-laboratory proficiency testing (ILAT)

As part of its reference activities for diagnoses, the unit organises inter-laboratory proficiency testing (ILAT) according to ISO 17043. These tests evaluate the capacity of partner laboratories to conduct tests by evaluating reagents, equipment, technicians and the interpretation of results.

Each proficiency testing campaign must meet strict criteria of independence, confidentiality, speed of the dissemination of results and robustness of the assigned values.

Roll-out of testing campaigns

The frequency of testing campaigns is determined by demand or may be imposed as part of a regulatory agreement.

When the campaign date is reached, the unit sends participants the samples to be analysed using the official method.

The results obtained are analysed in two ways:

  • Direct comparison with CIRAD reference values
  • Statistical analysis according to ISO 13528

All non-compliant results are discussed to identify the actions or improvements that should be made. At the end of the campaign, an inter-laboratory test report is issued for each participant.
